Oxygen (O2) passes in front of the UV lamp and splits into two oxygen atoms.
The oxygen atom (O) reattaches itself to an O2 molecule to form ozone (O3).
The ozone (O3) breaks down to form oxygen (O2) once again, and the additional oxygen (O) atoms bind to bacteria, mould, etc. and decompose their structure, destroying bacteria andeliminating odours. This is the oxidation mechanism.
